3 Foundational Sales Funnel Tips

sales funnel, sales funnel tips, online sales tips, how to get more sales online

Last Updated on October 16, 2022

A strong sales funnel is often the lost hero for many. When you’re running a business online your goal will always be to get as many sales and generate as much revenue as possible. In order to accomplish this, businesses will turn to their marketing for support (rightfully so). However, sometimes marketers and business leaders will spend a lot of time focused on specific parts of marketing, while not looking into the other important areas as well.

Having a couple of marketing campaigns out to fulfill the business revenue goals will not get the job done alone. In order to maximize the full potential of the business, there needs to be a strong sales funnel in place.

What makes a strong sales funnel? In this post, we will go over three fundamental elements that all businesses need, to keep users moving forward throughout the customer journey. Those three elements are a strong landing page, a clear call to action (CTA), and an understanding of your target market.

A STRONG LANDING PAGE

The main purpose of a landing page is to send users somewhere and to get them to take the action you’re wanting them to take.

Sounds easy, right?

Unfortunately, this is where the cliche saying comes into play: “Easier said than done”.

Landing pages are core pages that utilize user intent (why are they landing here), and product or service information that is focused on answering a user’s typical questions. Letting the user know why they should pick your product or service over the others – without overwhelming them with endless text.

Short and sweet is always the best choice for landing pages.

A CLEAR CALL TO ACTION (CTA)

First, let’s go over what a call to action is. A call to action is a short amount of words that tells users what action you want them to take while giving them a way to do so – through a link usually.

Now that you have an understanding of what a CTA is, let’s look at some examples below:

  • Buy Now
  • Learn More
  • Sign Up Today
  • Watch Now
  • Download

A strong CTA can increase your conversions significantly.

We suggest deploying a few different variations of CTAs on your ads, social media, etc. and seeing what resonates most with your audience. Once you can identify which CTA is gaining the most trust from your audience, then you can start using them all of the time.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR TARGET MARKET

Understanding your target market is essential for you to do anything consumer-facing within your business. This is what helps you mold your marketing strategy/messaging, and know how to position your website.

If you do not know your core audience and what specifically they’re looking for, you end up spending a lot of time and money focused on running generic ever-green campaigns, barely converting anyone. A better strategy is to serve multiple ads to different audience groups with relevant interests in your specific products or services. This will also tie into your CTA and landing page, which is why understanding who your target audience is, is the most important.
